Hey People,
Time has been passing and for those of you who have been asking what I've
been up to, here it is:
I spent six weeks overseas from September to early November. It was
totally exciting to see the world, but by the end, I was exhausted and
ready to get back home. It was a long time to be away.
As soon as I got back I started reading for films. It's been almost a year
since I've worked on any major acting projects and I'm anxious to get back
into it. Now I have a few projects coming up that I'm excited about, but I
can't talk about them until the deals are sealed.
I can tell you that next month I'm doing the voice of a character named
"Jojo," in an animated film with Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell called
"Horton Hears A Who," based on a famous Dr. Seuss book.
For the Thanksgiving holiday, my little brother Timmy came to visit. We
all went to Disneyland and spent Thanksgiving Day with my girlfriend's
family eating turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and sweet potato pie.
Thanksgiving is made for people who love to eat, which is why I enjoy it
so much. It's the perfect American Holiday.
Tim and I both worked on a very funny CG animated feature-length version
of The Three Little Pigs. Timmy plays a younger version of my character in
the beginning of the script, and I play the lead teen wolf. Other stars in
the movie are Brad Garrett and Jon Cryer.
The following week I joined Ashlee Simpson onstage for the American Music
Awards, where we presented the T-mobile award to Rascal Flatts. Some of
the highlights of the show for me were Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Gwen Stefani.
Probably my favorite performer of the show was John Mayer. My guitar
player Dory and I got to spend some time with him in Australia, so now I
consider him both a buddy and a hero.
Then at The Billboard Awards in Las Vegas, I had a little fun onstage with
Kathy Griffin. The script was kind of lame and unfunny, so we just
ad-libbed. Here is a blogger's summary:
"The next award was presented by Jesse McCartney and Kathy Griffin. Kathy
said that Jesse should look at her and not at her rack, it also ended it
her saying that Jesse should remove his hand from her behind, which Jesse
responded that Kathy seemed to like it. Clearly an answer that Kathy
didn't expect. Both of them seemed to have fun up there and definately one
of the better and funnier couples of the night. They ended up announcing
the winner for Soundtrack Album Of The Year. It was won by High School
Musical"
Finally, I just barely finished my last album, but since I've been home in
LA I've had a few ideas that I wanted to work on. I met some great
collaborators: Jonathan "JR" Rotem and Evan Bogart. It's early to start
talking about another CD, but I'm already having fun messing around in the
studio and trying out some new things.
Before too long I want to get out there and tour. It seems like there are
not enough months in the year to go everywhere and do everything I want to
do. But I know I'm blessed. Thanks to everyone for all the love and
support. I couldn't do it without you.
Much love,
Jesse
